Loule

This is one of our favourite towns, it is known as a market town because of its daily market, as well as the famous traditional Saturday morning gypsy market. This is held in a rectangular moorish looking red domed building that is surrounded by market stalls, offering herbs, fresh vegetables, fruit, cheese and olive oil’s etc.

Inside there are numerous stall holders selling peri peri sauces, honey, marzipan, nuts, cheese, pastries, ceramics and more. The whole of the south side of the interior is taken over by a fish market, and surrounding this main area there are many little cafes and other venders where you can get a snack from while you wander.

There is the remains of a moorish castle, which is now a museum ( Arqueologico), this also allows you to gain access to the castle walls, from where you can look out over the town. There is also a gothic thirteenth century church of Igreja Matriz. So defiantly pay Loule a visit you wont be disappointed.
